I haven’t found a definition for Emotional Fitness that is simple and clear, so I decided to define it myself:
Emotional Fitness is the ability to move into a state of being that translates into purposeful action. – Carl Paoli
What I wanted to capture with this definition was
1. Emotional Fitness is a skill. Anyone can learn it and develop it. 2. It requires one to be in motion. Not only mental but also physical. 3. It is translatable which means it has application in context. And 4. It is purposeful. It carries intention and is expressed deliberately rather than reflexively.
Having a simple and clear definition helps anchor our understanding of a concept and over time it can be molded, expanded, and improved upon.
